Care for the places that need attention
Your body does a lot. Your appointment is a chance to talk about what feels uncomfortable and get care focused on your needs.
Back and hip aches
Care that may help ease muscle tension that makes sitting, standing, or getting comfortable harder.
Neck and shoulder tension
Attention to areas that work hard during long days at a desk, pregnancy, or caring for a baby.
Pregnancy-related discomfort
Massage adapted to your changing body, health history, and stage of pregnancy.
Time to relax
Space to pause, release tension, and focus on your own comfort.
Pregnant? Your comfort comes first.
Prenatal massage means massage adapted for pregnancy. Dr. Tetteh will discuss your symptoms, how far along you are, and any guidance from your pregnancy care team before deciding what is appropriate.
Your positioning and pressure should suit your needs. Tell Dr. Tetteh what feels comfortable and what does not. You can ask for a change, a pause, or an end to treatment at any time.
Check with your obstetrician or midwife before prenatal massage, especially if your pregnancy is considered high risk or you have complications. Massage supports comfort; it does not replace prenatal medical care.

Meet Dr. Shannon Tetteh
PhD, DAOM, LMT · Licensed massage therapist
Dr. Shannon Tetteh specializes in women’s care, with particular attention to pregnancy and prenatal massage. His approach brings together massage and hands-on techniques to address your comfort and the concerns you want help with.
Your first visit is a chance to explain what you are feeling, ask questions, and discuss care that fits your needs.
What is Medical Massage & Manual Therapy?
Medical massage focuses on the areas that feel sore, tight, or uncomfortable. Manual therapy means hands-on techniques that work with muscles and other soft tissues.
The approach is tailored to your health history, goals, and comfort. Before treatment, Dr. Tetteh will explain the proposed approach and answer your questions.
What to expect at your first visit
Talk about your needs.
Share where you feel discomfort and relevant health information. If you are pregnant or recently gave birth, let Dr. Tetteh know.
Discuss your care.
Dr. Tetteh will explain what may be appropriate and discuss positioning, pressure, and any areas you prefer not to have treated.
Agree on the next steps.
If treatment is appropriate, care will follow the plan you agree on. You can ask questions or request changes throughout the visit.
You do not have to be pregnant to come in.
Women also seek massage for everyday muscle tension and discomfort. Whether you spend long hours at a desk, care for others, or want attention to an aching back or tight shoulders, your visit can focus on what matters to you.
If you recently gave birth or had surgery, discuss your recovery and any guidance from your medical team before treatment.
Questions before you book
Can I book if I am pregnant?
Tell Dr. Tetteh about your pregnancy, any complications, and advice from your obstetrician or midwife. Check with your pregnancy care team before prenatal massage.
Will the massage be painful?
The pressure should suit your comfort. You can ask for lighter pressure, a different position, or a pause.
Can I come in after having a baby?
Discuss your recovery, delivery, any surgery, and your medical team’s advice before treatment. The timing and approach depend on your individual situation.

When to seek medical care
New or severe symptoms need medical assessment rather than massage. Seek medical care for heavy bleeding, severe pelvic or abdominal pain, fainting, fever, pregnancy complications, decreased fetal movement, severe headache during pregnancy, unilateral leg swelling, chest pain, severe postpartum mood symptoms, or any urgent reproductive-health concern.
